My passion for travel and experiencing different cultures led me to take on photography on a more serious level. After a number of successful solo shows in and around the North West of England, I completed and was awarded an MA in Photography from the University of Bolton in 2010.
My social documentary project ‘Caring for the elderly in a multicultural UK’ has been exhibited at the International Orange Photo Festival in China (2009), at the People’s History Museum, Manchester (2010) and at Look 11 Liverpool International Photography Festival (2011).
A career within the education field working with children and young people has also allowed me to win successful projects within the arts and education.
This body of work, taken whilst on the SUP Artist in Residence programme (2011) in South India epitomises my feelings, thoughts and emotions as a British woman of Indian heritage in New India, capturing imagery that conveys both the conventions and the fluctuations of change.
